Brown sugar bourbon sauce has amazing flavor combinations. Bourbon is a wonderful sauce ingredient. It’s an American barrel aged whiskey or alcoholic liquor. Bourbon was first distilled in the 18th century in the American south, namely Kentucky. It’s has a deep, earthy, sweet flavor.

Sauce made with bourbon tastes amazing with hamburger steak. It’s made with fermented corn and cereal grain such as seeds of the pseudocereals amaranth, buckwheat, and quinoa. The specific flavors bourbon tends to add include vanilla, oak, and caramel.

You will adore this oaky and robust dish!

Other ingredients for brown sugar bourbon sauce include vegetable oil, finely minced shallots, garlic, and water. Also apple cider vinegar, tomato paste, salt, and brown sugar. And last but not least red chili powder, molasses, and liquid smoke.

Molasses taste amazing with bourbon for this hamburger steak. This viscous condiment is also called black treacle in the United Kingdom. Molasses is the byproduct of refining sugar cane or sugar beets. It provides a sweet, smokey, robust flavor.

The hamburger steak takes only 10 minutes to cook but the brown sugar bourbon sauce should be simmered for 15 minutes total. That’s because it takes about that long to cook the alcohol out of the bourbon. What I do is start making the sauce first and once it’s simmering I fry up the beef.

This way both recipes end up being done approximately the same time. Additionally they can both rest for about 10 to 15 minutes and the full dish is ready to serve. See the detailed recipe with instructions below!
