This easy hamburger steak recipe with tomato basil sauce is perfect for family lunch or dinner. I made this dish for my husband and kids last night and they absolutely devoured it. My favorite thing to do is cut pieces up and dip them in the sauce.

This tomato basil sauce uses tomato paste which is the perfect ingredient for it. That’s because tomato paste is a thick condensed tomato ingredient. It’s made by cooking tomatoes down for several hours which reduces the water content. The seeds and skins are strained out of the paste as well.

Similarly the hamburger steak recipe contains ground beef. Ground beef is also called minced beef or beef mince. It’s ground down and finely minced through a meat grinder or mincing machine. Another ingredient I like in this dish includes dried oregano. Oregano comes from a flowering plant native to Western and Southwestern Eurasia and the Mediterranean area.

Ground beef makes the best simple family dinner.

Oregano is a culinary herb that tastes delicious with the tomato basil sauce. It’s actually even more flavorful when dried. Other ingredients for the sauce include beef broth, butter, salt, and ground flaxseed. Also basil, cilantro, garlic powder, onion powder, and sugar.

This hamburger steak recipe tastes really good with the basil as well. Basil is another culinary herb, this particular one is native to Africa and Southeast Asia. The leaves of the basil plant omit a pungent, sweet, and strong aroma.

Other ingredients for the hamburger steak include egg, salt, paprika, and thinly sliced onion. I also like to add onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, olive oil, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, and lime juice. Making this recipe is simple on the stove top.

I usually make the meat and the tomato basil sauce at the same time using a skillet and sauce pan. But before I can do that, I mix the ground beef and all the ingredients into 3 patties. Then I heat the oil and onions in the skillet while melting butter in the sauce pan.

Each side of the hamburger steak patties need to cook for approximately 5 minutes. Additionally, the other sauce ingredients need to be thoroughly mixed in with the butter and brought to a simmer for 5 minutes!
